I am now trying to change out the Pioneer 6 disc cd changer for a Kenwood unit with ipod controls cuz i'm sick of cds laying all over my truck. My problem is that when i removed the factory unit, it actually has 2 plugs in the back. It has the standard 16 pin Ford plug but it also has a smaller 4 pin plug.
Now by browsing this forum, i found a wire diagram of my set up. There is a pic here in the first post: Audiophile amp/sub wiring
So it would appear that the extra 4 pin plug goes to the amp and sub in the center console. My question would be how do i attach the amp and sub to my new Kenwood unit?? The Kenwood unit just has it's own wire harness and RCA jacks.
I ordered from Crutchfield but i had to lie about my current set up because they didn't have the Ranger with Pioneer on file. They wouldn't send me any installation gear unless i lied. So i'm not even sure if the wire harness they sent is entirely accurate. The wire harness has 16 PINs but 2 are empty slots. I inspected the male end in my truck and it had only 1 empty slot. Is that normal?? Any help would be appreciated. I really have no knowledge about this stuff. I'm probably gonna let a friend of a friend do the actual installation but i'm not even sure he will be able to figure this out.

What is the model head you got from Crutchfield ? You are going to need to access the Pioneer stock amp and see how it is connected to the stock wiring harness. The wiring harness adaptor you got from Crutchfield is probably not going to be the right one, at least for your stock sub amp, but maybe we can find a work around.

Not positive, but if you look at the subwoofer wiring, there are 4 connections, - white should be signal, blue should be remote turn-on, black is ground, red is power.
