Default Ford Ranger 2004 Edge 6 CD Changer Problems

Hi!
The ad for this clean Ranger said that everything worked. Well... the 6 CD changer won't receive (nor reject) a CD. When it displays, "Insert CD # (Whatever)", there's a clicking sound but the CD is not received into the chamber. I can push it in with my finger, but the display still reads "NO CD", and... after trying to receive the CD (the clicking noise), the noise changes to more of a "I'm trying to now kick this CD out"... and actually, little by little, it does just enough for me to grab it with y fingernail. (Like a small hammer was tapping it or trying to tap it out of the slot). I guess this means a total remove and replace? .... John

Yes. The 6 disc in my 03 did the same thing. I had to take the whole CD case out of the radio and disassemble it just to get all 6 of my cd's out. I tried to roll around with just the AM/FM part of the radio, but eventually the entire radio just started shutting off for no reason, so I had to take it out and put in a new aftermarket head unit. Haven't had a problem since, and even though I'm a stickler for keeping my trucks original, I haven't even looked back. That radio was such a pain in the rear and they're really not worth fixing. I picked up my Pioneer for a mere $70, about what you would pay for a used factory 6 disc that will probably do the same thing eventually.

And it would always make a 'searching' sound, thats soo annoying. The Fix: Dunno, just need a new CD player.
^Posted this the other day on another topic, this is your problem. And after awhile they end up no even accepting CDs, and will just keep on searching for CDs everytime you turn the truck on, or click the CD button.
