Default speakers for 87 ranger

ok, so in my truck my front speakers (which are wired to the rear for some reason) are up on my dash instead of in my door. they are a pain to get to unless i have a special tool (idk what its called) or i have to take my windshield out. lol well idk what size speakers go in the front (or even the back) spots in my truck. i believe these are the stock speakers from 87 and i badly need them replaced i am simply wasting my new stereo and 12'' sub woofer on such wimpy/blown out speakers. anyone have any idea on what type of speakers i need?

Forget the 4" dash speakers. You should have 6x9's in your doors and either 5x7's or 6x8's in the rear.

I would focus on the 6x9's in the doors.

Do you want to run them off the head power only, or amp them ?

What new head (stereo) make and model do you have ? Also what make and model sub and sub-amp ?

We can get you some killer sound with 6x9's.

the stereo i have in there is a Clarion DB165. i don't have door speakers or any place for them. my truck is a 1987. they only had 4 speakers in the truck at that time. two on the dash. two in the rear. i want to restore. this truck. not vamp it up. i like the classic look about it. i might get the truck rewired one of these days if I've ever got the cash. so if i get it rewired ill put in door speakers. I'm also putting in a single 12'' aftermarket subwoofer. its just kinda jerry rigged into there (like most things on my pickup) right now I'm just focused on replacing the speakers i have in there. the two 4x4 speakers on the dash. and the rear speakers. which i am assuming are 5x7s. i haven't actually measured them yet. I'm currently looking for a DECENTLY priced amp to power the sub (remember I'm only a high school kid, i don't make bank). i need an amp bc everything is wired to the rear. the head can't provide enough juice to run all of that by itself.

so what i want to have in the end is:
2, 4x4 dash speakers.
2, 5x7? rear speakers.
1, 12'' Pioneer Champion Series Subwoofer
1, ? amp.

there is a pic of the sub that gonna go in. i just need speakers that can handle the sub really. mine are cracked and blown.

OK, I will recommend 5x7's for behind the seats to be powered by the head only. You need to rewire the speakers from the head with new 16 or 18 gauge speaker wire, without breaks, and make sure you get the polarity correct from head to speakers. I don't believe the normally powered speakers will ever keep up with your sub, tho.
