Default 4 New Speakers

I'm looking to get 4 new speakers for my 1993 Ranger XLT. My passenger door speaker is blown, and all in all it's time for an upgrade.

I currently have this head unit installed already. Right now I want to get 4 speakers (2x front, 2x back) that will run off of the HU alone.
Later on down the road (after some exterior related mods) I will be getting a sub and whatnot, but that's not a focus presently.

Also, as a small side note, I have $100 bestbuy giftcard.. so if they can be purchased from bestbuy, that's great, if not, that's okay too.

That Sony head is rated at 17 watts RMS x 4. Still significantly more powerful than the stock Ranger head. I will recommend some sensitive speakers good for the low power standalone head. If you think you will amp the full range speakers later, some of these will work, some may not. Depends on how much power you want, and I don't know that.

Also, is your Ranger a regular or supercab ? The speakers were sized differently in some of the older models like yours.
If you will amp your full range speakers later on, are you considering component speakers ?

My ranger is the supercab? It's the XLT one.

What is the difference between full range and component speakers?

Component speakers are full range. By not full range I mean subs, usually.

Components are the seperate midrange woofer and tweeter.

Alot of people use a 4 channel amp to power a set of components in front and a small sub in back.

Ended up going with these speakers:

I wasn't going to look for a sub/amp yet, but now that I'm on a roll...

A few questions:
I listen to a lot of metal, so I like my bass crisp. I was reading that a NON-ported sub would be best, is that true? I'm also looking at 1, maybe 2 10". Any random thoughts for a decent sub/amp?

Yep, those are excellent speakers for a non-amped full range system.

Yes, for the type music you listen to, 1 or 2, 8" or 10" subwoofers in a sealed box will sound great, properly setup. A powered sub setup would be fine also. Takes the guesswork out and simplifies installation.
