Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum, although I've been lurking for the past 4 months ever since I bought myself a brand new 2011 XL Regular Cab (red, standard transmission, short bed 3.73 gears if anyone is curious). I'm in Afghanistan and bought it from a kiosk on Kandahar Air Field so I haven't even seen her yet. I apologize for asking such an easy to answer question - but I can't just go to my garage and measure so I need to ask a favor of you.
I'm putting together my audio system from Crutchfield. I already have an Alpine head unit and a pair of Alpine 6x8 door speakers waiting for me at home (just 1 more month). Now I'm down to the bass. Laugh if you like but I am going to put in a Bazooka Tube to hold me over while I put my money to more important things (tires, bed liner, window tint, etc etc it's an XL so there is a lot I can put money towards
) In my last truck I had a 6.5" Tube behind my seat and now I am wondering if I will have room for an 8" in the Ranger.
Here is my favor. Could anyone with a 1998+ regular cab grab a tape measure and find out
exactly how much room is behind the seat when the seat is ALL the way back on the rails? And then if you're feeling generous maybe let me know how much room you gain by moving ONE click forward? Now I've been a member of forums in the past and I know the mantra "use the search function" All I've been able to come up with is answers like "small" or "about 7-8 inches"
The diameter of the tube is 8-9/16" for the 8" model. So if there is 9ish inches of space about 4 inches above the floor of the cab than I should be good.
What do you all think? Anybody up for a quick measure? Please don't reply with things like "bazooka tubes suck" I've used them before, I know what I'm getting. Also I'm looking for an exact measurement not a ball park estimate.
Regards,
A Regular ol' Ranger
