Good speakers to fit in the front doors, if not planning to amp them.

Wink Re: need new speakers!!

Installed a set of Rockford Fosgates in the rear, the Prime R1682 6x8 coaxial speakers. They sound great but had to drive the balance to the rear a bit to get them to go. Can hear more bass and the mid-range off the coaxial's. $70 delivered with everything I needed. Took 25 minutes to install. Hardest part was getting that black goo off the screw that held those super cheap Chinese factory speakers in.

Take a look at them on Crutchfield.

Are you powering them with an external amp or just the head ?

Smile Re: need new speakers!!

Factory head now but, better get another set for the front and a 4-channel amp to kick-um good. I think a set of 3-way speakers up-front with the amp will work fine. I just want better sounds than the factory speakers can produce, the 2011 XLT has the Sirius system and a plug-in Aux. port for all kinds of versitality.

Quick Question,

I've heard that if you don't want to amp your door speakers you should get something with 91 sensitivity & lowest RMS power range possible. (2-40ish)

I have a pair of Kenwoods 3 way 80RMS door speakers with a sensitivity of 87. My idea was just to rock those until I amp them. Would it be better to pick up a pair of these $50 to listen to until I do get the amp.

In short, how drastic of a change will these speakers have from my Kenwoods when using only the head units power (headunit has the mosfit amp so puts out 22RMS per channel)?

...Although now that I think about it I could get a 2 way amp for the door speakers with that $50 hmm.... Thoughts?

I would go ahead and install those Kenwoods to the head and wait until you can afford a quality amp. (not a $50 one)

Best Buy has a decent selection if you're not a Pioneer man. I would have never guessed that Kicker made 6" x 8"s

They look good to me, not very sensitive, but should do well with a quality 50 watt per channel amp.

welp, thanks for all the info guys. however, it seems that my factory cd player was the issue. cuz i just put my new headunit in, and they sound fine. not super great but good enough for me for the moment. after the sub goes in, im not planning on listening to the music anyway
