Default Speaker Wire Routing

Hey yall.
Alright, so I have been doing some modding to my audio system, I have put some 6"x9"s into my modified door speaker holes. I took out the 5"x7"s from the doors, and I want to put them behind the seats in the stock positions. When I took off the speaker grilles, I was suprised to find large, gaping holes where speakers should be.

I have already modified the grilles to fit my speakers, and when I went to throw them in, I found that the speaker's wires were also missing.

I found them on the connection to the head-unit, but for the llife of me I do not want to tear up my entire floormat to find the wires.

Can anybody point me in the right direction???

If you need to run speaker wire to the back, it's not hard at all. No need to "tear up your entire floormat". If that's what you need to do, I can explain and/or post pics.

Just run them down the dash toward the driver floor area. Snake them nice and tigh up against the fire wall. Continue them down by the e barake and then down by the driver door. Pull up the sill plate and tuck then under it continue them toward the back.

It is easier to run driver and passenger side down one side then take the passenger side over from there

You can go under the carpet too but it's fine like that.

it is safer to push under the carpet so you dont pinch the wire.

Also yours will probably be screwed down unlike Jays 2004 and up they did away with screwing them down

I made sure it didn't pinch, no chance of it pinching, so thinner speaker wire would be fine. And this way you don't have to pull up as much of the carpet.

I believe all base model rangers come with just the wiring at the radio and that is as far as they go.

My 03 XL was the same way

Thanks everyone!

I spliced the wires at the back of the connection to the HU, and ran them underneath my center console and armrest. Once behind the seats, I cut a small hole in my rubber floormat and ran the wires seperately from there. Everything works great!

Hey I was going to do the same thing and also found no speaker behind my seats which, from reading I guess isn't a big deal.

What size are the stock speaker wholes behind the seats? Are they 6*8. I have a 2008 regular cab.

These stock grills seem to be very close to the seats. Are they still a good place to put some speakers or would the sound just hit the seat and muffle itself.

I found another post that says they are under the drivers seat in the wiring harness for the seat belt wires.

Remember everyone, do not route power wires next to speaker wires. Depending on what setup you have, this will eliminate sound and ground loop interference between the two.
