The gain is only at 1/3 power. And the sub s max 400 amp 300. So the gain isn't even at half...

You stuff ported boxs so you reduce the airy baffle sound. The poly reduces that. That is why its in a ported box. All ported boxes from a company with a sub already place have poly fil in them. Tubes most of all.

Re: DIY sub box and amp situation.
ikr lol also at 1 time i had this software i got from dowload.com or limewire or something, but you could plug in you vehicle air space, the air space requirment for your sub and a few other things and it showed you how to build the perfect box for what you had never got to try it but it seemed pretty convincing

Re: DIY sub box and amp situation.
^ Or you can just look up the recommended air space on the subwoofers website, then go to RE's enclosure calculator and it'll design the box for you....

Re: DIY sub box and amp situation.
Or get a better amp. It's going into 'protection mode' for a reason.

Re: DIY sub box and amp situation.
Well i replaced all my wires with some bigger gauge. My power and ground. Shit is still happening.. but i luckly got a call from someone who wants to buy my pioneer.. so i meet him and he has it all hooked up to this smaller kenwood. so i hook the pioneer up and of course it works. than i ask him if he would sell the kenwood. he says yeah.. so i offer ten bucks... Annnnndddd i walk away with a nice kenwood amp.. its perfect for my sub and i got a killer deal. i hope it all works out.. ill let ya know when i hook up tomarrow.

Re: DIY sub box and amp situation.
It could be lots of things. Size of power and ground wires should be the same and are according to the current draw of the amp. If your lights are dimming during powerful low bass hits, make sure your battery and alternator are load tested and show good, belts are good and tight, upgrade the charging system wiring to 0 gauge from alt + to batt +, alt - to chassis ground, batt - to chassis ground. A capacitor is a last resort 'bandaid'. Make sure your sub amp is stable at whatever the impedance load is.

Well none of my lights dim or at least that I notice. Its only 200 rms. I don't think that would effect my battery. Its no 1000 watts. Idk how to do the zero gauge upgrade... ill see how this amp goes.

Re: DIY sub box and amp situation.
You are correct that 200 watts RMS should not be a load, and that 200 is seldom reached anyway.

Re: DIY sub box and amp situation.
check your fuse(s)...check the ones on the amp and the one on your power wire that goes on your battery. I know when this would happen to me with my kenwood, i would just replace the power wire fuse and everything would be fine...
