I'm confused... your antenna just screws on and off from the top corner of the fender by the windshield... are you saying there's no wiring going to that?? But you said it's between the fire wall and engine which would mean you wouldn't know if there's wiring in there....

Anyway... I got mine on ebay... 30 second search results

You'd know if there was wiring or not by looking to see if it's attached to the back of the head unit, or look up in your glove box.

Running a new antenna wire can be done without taking anything apart.

there is no wiring. i no that. i have had a cap on the hole were the antenna is supose to go. i took it off and looked down and there is no rooom for a powered one. and there is no way to get to it from ether side of the firewall. if ripped apart a dash on a 95 ad the only thing goin into the firewall is a cable for the antenna from the radio. mine has nothing. i have to start from scratch. witch is y i was trying to put in a aftermarket one. try looking at my pictures if u can. it might show u the cap. not sure.

I would pick up one of these. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...F8&me=&seller= That way you don't have to worry about running the wire. Everything stays in the cab to make is easy.

Do you have a big fat hole on your passenger side of the cowl, behind the hood and in front of the windshield????

Hit up a junkyard for all your pieces. The base, the antenna wire from the base to the radio, the base cover, and ultimately the antenna or a short off ebay or something. There's a HUGE abundance of Explorers at junkyards right now. right now is the time to get your parts.

My uncle has one like that in his car. The few times I have driven it the radio stations come in just as good as they do in the Ranger.
