Default Installed my single din Pioneer head unit!

So my truck is mainly a local transportation vehicle and for those days that I need to bring my bike to the track up in Loudon, NH. Well, I have a business meeting down in the Atlantic City area next Tuesday so I worked it out so that I could attend a motorcycle track day at the New Jersey Motorsports Park the Monday before (It's on the Thunderbolt track if anyone is going this upcoming Monday...Let me know!). Knowing that I will be driving my truck for more than 6 hours for the first time, I decided to upgrade my head unit to an aftermarket one so that I can use my phone to access Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, etc...

So I picked up the Pioneer DEH-3300UB CD Player for $99 from Crutchfield. It's one of the cheaper head units out there but I figure that I am not planning on upgrading the stock speakers on my truck so I did not need anything crazy and it had what I really needed which was an auxiliary and USB port. For those who are comfortable with DIY jobs Crutchfield is the way to go. Not only was there no tax but it came with the mounting hardware, plug and play harness and tools to remove stock head unit. ALL FOR $99! Best Buy would have charged me 6.25% for tax, $50 for hardware and harness and $50 for labor. Overall, great experience and feeling to install something on your own. I definitely recommend to anyone who wants to learn and save money. Here are some pics:

You will notice that I utilized the face plate trim that came with the mounting hardware instead of the stock one. It made the look a little cleaner.

It definitely felt great to do stuff on my own but its tough to find the time these days...especially now when I am planning for a wedding. Luckily this only took an hour. Not a perfect install...you can probably see if you look close that the tray underneath on the right hand side is not completely flush. I must have pushed too hard at that end.

Where did you get the trim piece and the mounting bracket to turn mount a single din in a double din spot. i was just looking on crutchfield and i cant find any bracket/trim for my 2011 to mount a single din. i would imagine our dashes are going to be the same? maybe ill try searhcing a 99? but then can anyone confirm the dashes are the exact same and the trim/bracket will work?

thanks guys

Crutchfield and other suppliers have plenty of the mounting kits for all models. Just call them.

Try this: http://www.crutchfield.com/app/car/c...car%2fcar.aspx

You can put your vehicle year/make/model in and it will tell you what fits and what doesnt.
.
