Default Crutchfield fitment for double din

Ok, so I know obviously you can do a double din touch in pretty much any newer Ranger. Why is it that crucified says nothing fits? Ive selected just about every option you could and still says that. I'm just wondering what they base that fitment off of so i know what I have to choose from as far as in-dash nav and all the goodies go.

Because you have to trim the radio bezel to make it fit.
if it is not a direct fit they wont show that it fits.

I just selected 05 explorer and they sent all the stuff for that which wont work either but I got the radio I wanted.

Is installing a double din system w/ say, nav dvd sirius, a whole lot different from installing just any old stereo? You just have to wire the supermarket harness or whatever to the car so you can connect it to the radio I think. BTW my ranger is 2011 sport 4x4, so any known problems or tips are greatly appreciated. I'm not going to tackle this for a couple of months....103 degrees is way to hot to install a radio outside. lol

you hook up all the wires to the factory harness the same, then on most they have a dedicated plug for GPS and then satellite radio can either be an aux in thing, or use an FM tuner to broadcast over regular radio.

you can remove the bezel and do the wiring and fitting inside, so all you really have to do is cram everything back into the dash hole. i just did a double din install yesterday. i don't have gps or satellite radio, but have hooked that stuff up before in my brother's car for him.

Yup, I even called them one time asking about installing a double din into an explorer bezel, they said they didn't have a double din dash kit for explorers.
That's the only time they've let me down in over 20+ years of buying from them.

You'll need to trim the bezel to get a double din kit to fit, but it shouldn't be that difficult to find a double din kit.

All you do is trim the upper lip and bottom lip.

Some have gotten away without having to trim it because their double din was smaller. My Alpine fits like a glove and looks awesome.

I tried using that metra kit and it did not work worth a crap. I ended up with one from a local stereo shop that worked better.

i had to trim my upper and lower lips, and trim down the side lips so they weren't as thick. mine isn't a fancy install kit though, theres no bezel. it's just the plastic pieces in the bottom of the pic that silver posted. can't really tell though, so i dgaf

Well sweet! I was worried it would take a lot more than that to get it to fit correctly. Thanks for all your help! =D
