Ipod set up...
Has anyone in here set up their stereo system to use an Ipod yet? I've been thinking about this for a while now and my current stereo system has MP3 capabilities, so I was wondering how difficult would it be to hook up an Ipod in my ranger and how it would make listening to my favorite tunes alot easier? I'm tired of changing cd's over and over again, and I did burn a cd of some of my favorite tunes, but I'd rather send them to an Ipod instead of a blank cd.
Thanks in Advance,

I bought an iPod cord from my local audio dealer, and it hooked up to the back of my pioneer deck, an I ran it though my dash and out in my glove box, so I pulged up my iPod and never had to look at it again since I can control it from my deck

Re: Ipod set up...
That's nice but I can't and won't do that. My stereo system is stock but it's one of those dual media stereo systems ( plays both cds and cassettes) and it's extremely expensive. Is there another option I can do to use my current stereo system by any chance?

Re: Ipod set up...
there is a how to about adding an aux jack to your stereo system in the how to section. i didnt have to do that, i just got an aftermarket head unit but for you it might help.

Scosche make a nice one-I beleive the number is IPFMRDS. Kind a pricey but it works incredibly well. IIRC, I got mine from Crutchfield.

This. Save up a little bit and buy yourself a nice headunit. You can get a really nice single din for under $200 and a nice double din for about $100 more if you do some searching.

If it plays cassettes just go get one of these:

X2 On the adapter, if you don't want to upgrade to a new deal, that in my opinion would be FAR better

I know man. That's what ford wants for the whole ordeal which is expensive but not elsewhere though. I really aint behind behind in the times now, I just kept putting this off for too long is all. I know that Ipods have been around for every bit 10 years now and MP3s have been out even longer. I just never looked into getting one until recently. The stereo system I have now is a 2 in 1 deal. I'll look into the headunit though. I shouldn't have put this off for so long.

Thanks man. I've been looking into it and found quite a few things I like to upgrade my stereo system.

Re: Ipod set up...
They still have cassette adapters out there...wow! I know you can get some head units for 99$$$ that have the AUX or/usb port. If you really want to keep the dual stock head unit, then get the cassette adapter...Installs are not hard at all for decks.

They carry them in alot of truck stops. But mostly everything has went to either Ipod/MP3 technology or CDs. That is what I'm looking for really. I was wanting to keep my stereo stock but after seeing some of the things that they have out now and what's about to come out, I've since changed my mind. Best Buy has a unit that I like and the Geek Squad there can install it for me. There aint that many truck stops left that carry cassette adapters. Very few of them do these days.

I don't really know for sure yet. I'm trying to decide on which one would be best for my purposes and tastes and which one would be best suited for my ranger as well. The one I looked at has satelite radio capabilities, 3 USB ports, and a bluetooth application and it's way up there in price too. I might get one that doesn't have the bluetooth app and only one USB port. I'll have to look and talk to someone at best buy before I can make any decision. I've had alot of good fortune with Alpine head units, but I've heard alot of good about pioneer head units too. My last ranger had alpine speakers and a pioneer head unit and it never gave me any problems. I'm just looking for something that I can use an Ipod with and don't have to change CDs all of the time. Plus I'm interested in satelite radio as well.
