Ideas for custom speaker placement
Ok guys, need some ideas and thoughts on where and what type of speakers will work here:
Right above the heads of me and the passenger seat. speaker size/mounts/wiring I want to hear it all. I know you guys come up with some great ideas so this is why Im posting!
Currently all I have is my Sony 200w deck and factory speakers. I plan on changing out the 4 factory with Pioneer 6x8 3 ways but wanted to do 2 more customs at the same time. Do I need an amp? Can I just splice into the rear speaker wires? Will any speaker even fit up here?
So lets hear them!!

Well Eric my idea was to buy those ultra thin 2 way speakers Infinity Has that I saw at Best buy and make custom mounts and bolt it to the frame by cutting into my headliner. this was my only thought on it though and was hoping either:
A: someone has attempted this!
or
B: Know for sure its impossible!
Thoughts?

Re: Ideas for custom speaker placement
I'd get some of those fiberglass kick out boxes for doors or by your feet and cut them to fit
Something like this http://www.amazon.com/SSV-Works-Polaris-designed-Speakers/dp/B0038L1LOW

Re: Ideas for custom speaker placement
Make a custom box to put behind your seats. Your headliner might not be able to hold the weirght of a big speaker.

Re: Ideas for custom speaker placement
That Sub mount is actually pretty sweet!!
Ok, so I went to a friends place tonight after work and we talked for about 2 hours about what we could do with speakers in my Cab and I think we have a semi solution!
Instead of mounting speakers on the headliner, I would put 2, 2" tweets on the back wall between the driver and passenger seats. This will eliminate the weight issue. I would just have to build a custom mount to place the speakers into. The 2 tweets would be connected to the rear speaker wire hookups. The front speakers will remain the same but the 2 "rear" speakers behind the seats will not be 6x8", instead Im going to modify the rear mounts to hold 2, 8" round 2 ways and plug them into my amp going to the sub outputs of my deck.
This way I get my highs and mids from the front, Highs from the rear center and Lows from the back speaker mounts.
How does that hold up? Ideas on a better setup? I havnt bought anything yet but am looking to do the most with my sounds system without spending huge bucks!
Remember I have a standard cab so I dont have the room to play with 10s or 12s!!
