Default Sub and Amp issue

Well, finally got around to testing out my 2 10s and mtx amp that i got from my brother who had them in his stang many years ago and was just sitting around. well we tested them months ago on a power supply in the garage, threw a boombox/radio and it was working with the amp and all. Tonight when we were testing it out this time we used the truck and the batttery along with the wires i got in the back of the radio it was acting funny. we taped into the rear speakers and then to the HI IMPUT on the amp and sometimes the radio sound wouldnt play threw any speakers in the truck or the sub. that was even with the amp on ground but not power and hoooked to the speaker. could the amp be fried or what gives?

i hook my amp up to a toggle switch and when it was off the sub would still move to the music so i'm not sure if that's what is normal for a sub or not....

the cd player pushes power through the rca lines thats why it moves (if im not mistaken) i blew my amp today trying to blow a sub for a buddy at work i didnt blow the sub i made it smoke

use the remote wire and rca lines not the rear speakers

Sounds like a bad ground if it moves when just grounded(don't ground to seats or beds). I had mine hooked up like that but just hooked up a rca converter 5mins ago...Make sure you got every wire hooked up right, I just checked mine 5 times because I lost sound from the head unit and it ended up being a sliver of wire I could barley see shorting it

thanks preston!

Well thats one thing i think might be the issue, we arent useing any actual wiring or anything, except for the wire going from the back of the radio to the HI Imput on the amp. We have clip leads going from the battery to the amp, clip leads going from the amp to the subs, and to a 2amp fuse that was taped to my hood poll. We havnt bought anything for it yet, we are just making sure it still worked but it doesnt seem to be working the way we wanted it to
