Hello,

So I just bought this truck off my dad and im trying to install subs in this truck.. I have everything ready except for the RCA cables because the truck is to old so it doesn't have the plugs In the original stereo.. So I bought a high/low coverter and I don't know how to install it to this truck.. The converter has 4 wires 2 green 2 grey there are 8 speaker wires in my truck.. Which do I wire them to?

I'm new with this whole adaptor and messing with speaker wires..

They do but it's way too vague to work off of.. It has a diagram of the converter to the head unit, my biggest question is that for both front/back speakers adds up to about 8 wires, 2 +/- wires for the left/right etc.. Now the converter has 4 wires total which lets me connect either the front speakers or the rear speakers, which should i choose..?

The directions are correct. If you are using the factory head unit, all you need to do is connect the correlating wires to the left and right speakers, no need to take the head unit out! After you have wire the speakers, rca's get connected and you got bass!

In previous systems i did these same way and just lengthened the speakers wires. Hope this helps!

It shouldn't matter if you hook it to the front or rear speakers, you just need 1left speaker and 1 right speaker connected. All it is doing is using the signal from the speakers to tell the sub what to do

well you kind of do need to take the head unit out to reach the wires in the back? otherwise i can't find any other speaker wires that would work..

splice into the rear speaker wiring or you can remove the whole radio your choice of where you want the convertor located.

rear location would mean shorter RCA's are needed and leave less room for noise interference

This is my first time looking for any audio wires, can you be specific as to where the wires that i need to splice into are located in the truck? >.<

Unscrew the speakers, take them out and you'll see the wires...I agree with reconjb about shorter rca's!

yeah man its easy, just pull the 2 rear speakers out and splice the wires from the converter in. then run your rca cables from the converter to your amp.

You should be able to find all the speaker wires under the floor on the drivers side. I know in my '98 all I did was pull up the corner of the carpet and I had all my wires going to the rear of the truck right there.

All you have to do is find out which color is which, and you can splice in right there.

Also you don't need a converter, just take an RCA cable, cut off the connectors at one end, then splice into your current system.

I would recommend using the rear speakers as a source, if you use the front ones, you will loose half the power going to the speakers that you will be listening to. If you tap into the rear ones, well no one can hear those unless they are in the back seat.

This will not work because the signals for Rca and your speakers are totally different this is why you need your converter to change the signal from high level (speaker) to low level (Rca)

If you plan on ever replacing your deck with an aftermarket deck (which will make the sub sound even better due to better adjustment and higher pre out voltage) then definitely connect the line output converter behind the radio, that way when you upgrade your deck your RCA's will already be back there and ready to plug in. If the install is done correctly and a good quality RCA's are used you wont have any noise interference or "alternator whine".
