What is this?!?

So, today I took my (STOCK FORD) speakers out (was cleaning the interior REAL good)

and this is what I saw





Wire coming from the truck



Speaker Input





So does this mean the original owner had some aftermarket speakers at one time? or did it come from the factory like this?

I suppose that new speakers wouldn't have that connector on it, right??

That's a stock speaker connector, I had that on mine before I upgraded

No, you'll have to cut that off to install a new speaker, I would recommend leaving some wire on that connector for when ya get rid of the truck you can put stock speakers back in

Alright. I may just bite the bullet and have someone like bustbuy do it. They hook you up with a new adaptor so you can keep the old one on that stock speaker.

Thanks for the help. I know stuff when it comes to sound, but I suck at wiring.

dude are you serious? you cant install some speakers by yourself? just cut off the conncector and attatch your own speaker disconncects.. if you take it too best buy ima slap you for wasting money. i could do that job in 10 min.

Dude don't waste $100 bucks to do that, it's super easy to do, it took me a whopping 30 mins to do it and that includes taking off and putting back on the door panels

Thats the stock connectors. Cut them off, use butt connectors for longer wires, attach said wires and done!

If you haven't gotten the speakers yet check out Crutchfield.com! They send adapters at no extra charge if you buy a pair of speakers(even send you free adapter plates if you want to get round speakers to replace the 4x6 ones)

Im in the process of swappin mine however I am going to just cut the plugs off..

You can Get the speaker adapters for a nice clean install if you want to use them. They plug right in to that connector and have spade ends on the other end for your new speakers. Metra electronics part number 72-5600. Sell for about $10-15.
