Exclamation Mystery wire on audio

The truck came with a Sony CDX-S2010 with the removable front missing so I picked up a Pioneer DEH-1800 to replace it.

Of course the multi-plug is slightly different so I cut off the old loom and made a connecting block to fit the Pioneer.

All wires match, color for color BUT I'm left with a plain blue wire that has no mate from the radio.

The Ford sticker I found in the dash says blue is "mute" and is optional so can I just blank this off and ignore it? I guess it had SOME function on the Sony.

PART 2: The antenna wire is very short, hard to get into hole when unit is out of the dash, since it's only about 18 inches from the antenna is there likely to be more length hidden in the fascia but maybe looped to save space?

Yes the Blue wire is the remote wire, it is not needed unless you have subs

This is just a regular truck not a submarine ;0)

Okay, thanks for that. I went ahead and the damn thing was working but lot of interference. Yesterday I'd dropped into a local high end audio place and grilled the fitter (he used his "magic keys" to get the useless back end of the old radio out for me) so today I whizzed down there again and told him the problem - he made the connection pushed it into the dash and it worked perfectly !!
Total cost $5 for his time and trouble

So now I have music while I drive and all is well with the world!!

Thanks again to everybody.

Was it solid blue or blue with a white stripe? On aftermarket decks The solid blue is actually a power antenna wire (supplies 12 volts when radio, am or fm, is turned on) and the blue with white stripe is the remote wire (supplies 12 volts when radio itself in general is powered on) everyone is referring to about amplifiers. Either way you can leave it alone.

Yep, the audio guy said it was the solid blue for the power antenna which I don't have anyway.
