i have a 03 single cab and i fit a kenwood 10" it fits pretty good i guess if you have tall friends it would suck but my gf fits in it and isn't squashed it hits really good enough to where you cant have it turned up for a while with out your ears hurting but all i have is a ken wood 10" with a 250w kicker amp i payed like 120 for all of it at a pawn shop ive had it for about 6 months the big thing is that if you have seat put all the way against the sub and if it hits really hard the seat will get in the way and when it "flex's" it will do damage to the diagram but on my sub box theres a little piece of plastic about 3" long that is protecting it so it isnt right up against the seat

personally i like it when you can feel the sub but not so much that you can feel your face shaking so if i was you i would get a sub with a bass control but the sub only puts if you want it to sound good to i would just put 2 3 way speakers in the door and i personally think that 8" sound quality is alot better then a 12 or 15 i would just put a 10 because it has a good combonation of bass and quailty with no lag. the sound wont be dim at all if you make sure that the sub isnt pressed up against the seat and i recomend using a piece of plastic so you or a buddy doesnt forget to make sure the seats up adn you turn it up and it messes the subs up. ps i couldnt find a good way to hide the power and rem. wire up if anyone has any good tips help thanks

^^punctuation is your friend. Get to know him.

And if you followed the link, I recommended an amp with a remote gain control, because yes, it's nice to be able to turn down the bass when your girl is with you, or as I did, have a switch to completely turn off the amp as well.

Remote gain control is awesome. It's a feature on many amps, and I don't know how I ever lived without it. It gives you finger tip control of how much the subs kick in relation to stereo volume, alowing instant tuning to the style or song playing at the moment.

I have a single 10" $100 JLAUDIO w1 in a ported box, and people always insist i have 2 12s. I had to remove the jack to fit tho.

I have a sealed 10" box for $50+shipping if anyone wants it. (no sub)

Might be willing to part with my ported box w/ sub for $500 tho. the box costs about $450 to be made custom

You spent that much on the box? Next time build it yourself. $35 for a 4X8 sheet of 3/4" MDF, some screws, caulk, carpet and a little planing, and you won't be sorry. I haven't bought a box in 8 years, and my shiz hits hard.

LOL no way. i built it myself. but the local shops around me charge $450-$600 for a custom box in my ranger. thats why i decided to build it myself. i spent a total of like $80 after carpet and everything.

No, a sub needs power, you need to give it power to operate.

You will need a subwoofer enclosure (aka a box) for the sub. Depending on the specs you can determine if the box will fit "nice" behind the seat. IMHO if fitment behind the seat is a big priority you should look at the boxes first. You shouldn't have any problem fitting an 8" sub behind your seat... but how nice it fit varies.
