ranger regular cab system
need help on what to do with my regular cab. i want some bass but cant sacrifice any leg room on the drivers side. im looking to spend around 350 dollars for a setup but dont know wwere to start... i either want 1 12 or 2 10's. please give me suggestions and dimensions on boxes and subs it would be greatly appreciated. they have boxes for my truck but they call for shallow mount speakers and i havent heard a lot of good things about shallow mounts. pictures of your systems would be great too

Re: ranger regular cab system
In a regular cab Ranger you can not fit 2 10's or 2 12's.....let me correct myself, you may be able to fit them but you will lose leg room and it will sound like crap! If you want good bass you need to install what will fit with the proper size box. and basically all you can fit is 1 maybe 2 8's. I guarantee you that 1 8 in the correct box will be louder and deeper than 2 10's in the wrong box! Lastly I don't know what you heard about shallow mount subwoofers but there is nothing wrong with them. Same principal applies...the right box for the right speaker. Trust me, I've been installing this stuff for more than 25yrs. Here is a pic of my system with 1 8" sub. It hits deep and can be heard coming down the street. Good luck.

Re: ranger regular cab system
Yeah I made it. It's mostly fiberglass. I'm getting ready to change it again. I'm going with a JL Audio 6.5" sub up front in the center where that tray is and putting 2 amps in the back behind the seats. The 6.5" has a long excursion and will be about equal to that 8" Fosgate I currently have. Another issue with 2 10's or 12's is sure maybe you can build a box for them if they are shallow mount but I'll bet the airspace will come up short (at least for the 2 12's) and then you have to find a spot for the amp that will run them. There is not much room under the seats so unless you are using one of those new very small and very expensive class D amps you will have yet another issue to figure out??? If you went crazy custom you could mount amps in the headliner In fact...I would say the biggest system that can fit would be 2 10" shallow mount subs filling the rear and the amps in the headliner! That would be way cool and way expensive. It would sound pimp though.

Re: ranger regular cab system
I paid a local place called Sun Valley Stereo to do this setup, and I have to say they did an awesome job. 8" JL Audio Sub and JL Audio XD400/4 amp.
