Default Amp heating up way too hot

If you look at my signature you can see what I have. My amp does great for what it has to push, but if I run it semi hard for a while it heats up to the point you can almost light cigarettes off it. I was wondering if a capacitor or anything else would help it or maybe I'm freaking out over nothing.

What wattage are the subs?
how many channels is the amp?
is the amp powering the door speakers?

if the amp is 2 channel then its rms power is roughly 250WRMS.

I'm gonna guess that you have the gain turned close to, or all the way up. The bass boost is probably turned up a good bit. And I bet it's safe to say you're clipping that amp to no end. All things right there will be the fastest and easiest way to heat up and/or fry your amp.

Yea quit doing that. Your gain is supposed to be set at a certain level and you shouldn't even use the bass boost.
