window tint is a astart man you look in some yards or some local ford guys and maybe try to find a visor but tint helps or buy some window covers and just flip those out so its a little easier on heat when you start your truck up

Your best way to ensure that it stays cool is to keep it elevated. If you could keep it like .5"-1" off of whatever surface it's mounted to it would help just as much as having a fan with it sitting on the floor.

weather where i live gets up to 125 in summer. I dont care I bump it non stop in mid summer. I have a JVC amp that is mounted in my reg cab perfectly in a way that when I turn on the A/C the air hits it good straight on. My amp sticks out about one inch on top of center arm rest. if u want piks ill email them to you. JUST CRANK UP THE A/C thats what its for. I also have limo tint on back window.

ran my pair of rockfords in the trunk of a black care for years and they did get hot enough it hurt to hold your hand on them (in houston,TX). never had them skip a beat and they still work perfect. the transistors and such inside of these amps are spec'd at 200C+ i strongly doubt even cranking them while they are hot will cause any kind of damage.

its actually a thermal diode on the heatsink but you are correct in the idea.
