Head unit install trouble....
First time dealing with installing anything related to a stereo. I hate electrical.
I recently bought a Pioneer DEH 1300MP head unit and a mount kit. Now im coming to a snag.
I cannot find out how to connect the wires for sound and power.
The stock radio wire harness is there and so is the Antenna cable.
what do i need to do to get this thing hooked up?
In the mount already. waiting for wiring.
I need professional help. ):

Re: Head unit install trouble....
You need to buy the smart cable from walmart or best buy. it plugs in and you just wire color-color
----------
you should also buy some heat shrink butt splice connectors to make a nice tight connection

Re: Head unit install trouble....
you need a wiring harness. it will plu into the stock one, and you connect the wires to your aftermarket one. go to a stereo shop and buy one for a ford. shouldnt be too expensive.

dammit pooleo i wanted to save the day. hahahh

Re: Head unit install trouble....
nah, that one looks to flat. You need the boxy looking one. When I got mine it did not list ranger on the back. It listed explorer and sport trac, that would be the one

Re: Head unit install trouble....
the big plug will plug into the factory harness. the other end will look like the wires from your deck. Just go down there and look at them, the fords. Look at the end that looks like the factory plug in your truck. there should be another plug with it, disregard that one.
----------
should look like this -
