Default New System Ideas...Need opinions.

Howdy everyone,

So I just installed a Kenwood In-Dash 7" DVD, Nav, RVC, Sirius, and IPod Connect in my ranger. It is amazing!!!! I will put picks up at some point to go along with this.

Now that i have this in I am in need of some louder music. I'm not huge on a lot of bass, but like to have that umph with it. Here are my thoughts on what I'm going to do... Your opinions and or other options you would do instead would be greatly appreciated.

I was thinking..
-Kenwood P680c 6x8 all the way around.
-Kenwood Kac 8105d 1000w amp (turned down most of the time)
-Audiobahn 10" Sub of some sort (huge audiobahn fan)
-In a small sealed box so i can easily remove.

I need your guys opinions on the speakers and amp. As mentioned above I really want more highs and treble. Bass is cool, but I'm getting older and like the music and instrumentals more.

Want to keep it cheap, but reasonable quality.

Thanks in advance yall!!

If you want it louder, I would suggest a 4 channel amp for the speakers, higher power handling speakers, the mono amp and sub.
Have you looked at 5 channel amps?
If you want the "feel" but not more volume, adding the mono and sub will give you that.

This is what I did

I'm with twisty add a 4 or 5 channel amp with upgraded speakers for better mids and highs then add a mono amp or bridge for a sub. I have got a 2000 watt amp for my speakers and it will hit the highs nicely sometimes the real high highs hurt.

I haven't heard to many good things about 5 channel amps. I know of a couple good ones though. Any suggestions on ones that would be reliable at a reasonable price.

Also, I should have mentioned before I want to keep everything hidden away as much as possible. If I need the back space, I just want to be able to pull the sub box and go. I use the back quite a bit so.....

Any suggestions are appriciated, thanks guys.

I can't. I spent many night in high school and college showing up jls, alpines, mtx, rockfords, infinitis, kickers, memphis....i might have forgot a cpl.

I won't buy any other subs until I am let down by them.

Thanks for the input though! Any more suggestions on amp and speakers??

dd, fi, aq, dc ftmfw! any of those in a proper box will romp any other brand...

and in your op, you dont turn down the amp. you set the gain to the max listening level and if you want less bass you turn it down on the head unit

I have the kicker 6x8 speakers all the way around in my truck. They sound great and I don't think they were very expensive. But im a kicker guy. I have the 4 6x8's with a 1000w kicker 4 channel to them and a 12" kicker L5 with a kicker zx450 hooked up to it. I had 2 12"L5's but I kept blowing the weather striping out of the back window on my truck

Boston Accoustic out performs JL everytime when you compare on the same price range. JL is good, but it depends on what you are spending on them.

For instrumental and clarity, go Boston for the mids. Even low end boston competes with most other speakers and most places that sell them will negotiate on the price.

My only complaint about bostons is the highs are too clear in the newer speakers and you tend to dial them back to meet the lows better.

Check Craigslist and UsedEverywhere and Pawn shops for older pro series bostons for cheap crystal sound.

If u want clear crisp sound, I'd add a set of tweeters to ur a pillar. Then as u said 10 inch sub. As for speakers I suggest kenwood excelons. Ive had mine for 2 years and I love them.
