Default Has anyone heard of this?

Has anyone on here ever heard of someone being able to fit 2 12's behind a full bench seat in a single cab? I heard a rumor going around school that someone did and I was just like theres no effin way.

It's been done. It can be done. There will be minimal clearance between the magnet and the back of the box, or you can use shallow-mount subs. Best bet is to figure out how much space you have back there, get me the dimensions, and I can figure out what subs you can use that will fit, as well as draft up the box design.

Yea it can be done but why? That's way to much in a lil space the subs will over power and won't breath right you'll suffocate your subs bass needs time to develop my cousin had 2 kicker comps in his sanoma sounded like garbage! Just get one good 10 with a good amp less clutter less weight better sound! 1 good ten Is better than 2 xplodes or dual 12s anyway

if the 12s have a low vas and a high qts with low suspension travel then it can work though the response would be around 45hz up to 80hz... if you don't want low booming bass then it could be good

Tell you what....
No offense, but you don't strike me as the type that knows jack shit about audio. Smaller spaces can often be more beneficial, because you can run more power/lower ohms without risk of overextending the sub.
OP: Put the seat in a position that will be comfortable driving, and start taking measurements. Height, width, depth at bottom, depth at top, any humps or obstacles on the floor, as well as anywhere that can be specifically used to mount the box to. If you can take pictures as a reference (with the measurements) that will help a lot too.

I didn't mean the subs would be over powered as in over heat or strained I ment they will over power the rest of your stereo! Because If tht happens you need to up grade components and mabey even run a 4 channel amp to them and let's face it that gets expensive and not everyone Is made of money!

And I havnt seen any information from you that the world has been in desperate need of! And why the hell would you put two 12s in a little truck just to under power them... just to say u have 2 12s and drive around uncomfortable? You sir are an idiot!

----------

And no big subs don't do better in a tiny space! Bass needs time to develop and expand if the volume of the cab is to small the bass will literally roll over Its self and cause distortion and make it sound like crap!
People fail to realize that bigger and more is not always better! Ever wonder the jlw7 8 are in such a big box. because some people actually know what there doing

All bass is, is moving air. So when you have a smaller space you get more air movement.. common sense. Hince the reason a sub sounds better in the cab of a truck than in a car or a suv. I personally think that 2 12's is overkill but to every man his own. I think one 12 is more than enough for a regular cab truck. My parents taught me alot about car audio systems when they owned their business. They won 2 db contests in my hometown so im thinking they know what theyre talking about.

you must of been improperly informed... the dimensions of the enclosure will be based on the parameters of the speaker, ex. my dd 1508 will work well in a 1.1 cubic foot box while a sa-8 will be in a .7 cubic foot box and a kicker cvr 8" could go in a .4 cubic foot sealed box or a jl w7 8" could go in a 4.5 cubic foot sealed box or a 1.5 cubic foot ported box... and with that said it works the same for any size speaker, the required dimensions of an enclosure for a desired goal will be based on the parameters that vary from speaker to speaker.

P.S. you should stop talking out you a$$, just saying

I've seen 4x 12"s behind the seat of an s-10 before, even installed some.

I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you have a good knowledge of the speaker parameters & how to construct a proper enclosure.

In most cases, a single 10" or 12" sub will be more than enough for most people. There should be ample air space for a single or possibly dual 12" subs, as long as you have an appropriately sized enclosure.

If you use subs that require 2cu/ft of air space, you'll be lucky to get one behind the seat, if you find shallow mount subs with less air volume required, you'll be able to install more.

All I have now is some Sony X-Plodes in the doors ( round ones, not 6x9) I have 2 6x9s that are in boxes behind my seat but they need to be weird in , i just need more bass , i will listen to rap sometimes and my bass is virtually un-hearable and i hate that i thought maybe the 6x9s would help out?
