IMO i think one antenna looks better than 2, as for your 5 speed problem frank.

Ill get you a better picture later, but you can do that with a bigger cb, just need a different mounting space for the mic.

Actually, no. Like that except totally the opposite.... I don't think you know what gain is, and clearly you haven't read any of this thread. I could explain, again, but I'd be repeating myself.

I know it all depends on the setup. I had a pro install all my stuff in my Pete. Told him what I wanted,he said 1 is better than 2. I'm just enjoying the banter here. Didn't mean to offend.

You're not offending me, don't worry. I'm just correcting misinformation. But now you see what I mean in these thread when I refer to "CB Radio Experts" as usually not know what the hell they are doing, like the alleged "pro" you mentioned.

Power comes out of the radio. Loss is anything that reduces the RF power once it leaves the radio, such as crappy coax, crappy connectors, or a poorly designed or installed antenna system. Gain is anything that increased the power after it leaves the radio. This can be an in-line amplifier, or it can be antenna(s). Cophased antennas 8ft apart apply about 3db gain off the front and back. 3db of gain is doubling the radiated power (power that leaves the antennas). You can do a system with more than two antennas and get even more gain.

So you see, the "pro" as usual didn't know wtf he was talking about.

I like the look of dual co-phase antenna's. I have 18' of 75ohm co-phase coax. If I use dual/co-phase will I loose any power or rf gain? or will i just break even? I like the dual look. thats what it all comes down to.

Ok, I have to break in here. I may not know all the info that you guys know, but I understand where Yogi is coming from. I ran a co-phased setup kit on my 81 Chevy I had, worked great, good signals, good TX and RX. But I broke the coax, so I replaced it with a single 12' coax with a 3' Barjan antenna. With my radio that I have, at that time it was stock, I could get out 3 miles with co-phased and 5 miles with the single. Ground plane and location has alot to do with how good a radio does.

It's all a matter of personal choice and who each person decides to listen to. But, I've chosen a CB shop operator of 30 years to help with my decisions. All I have to say is that experiece works wonders.

YES! What I've been saying all along. It is quality, not quantity when it comes to antennas, coax, an connectors.

You found one of the few that actually isn't an idiot. When it comes to CB radio, "expierence" is useless if it is wrong, and there's a lot of experienced morons.

Here is a smart and bright IDEA for you to do:
1. Mount a pair of matched antennas to your rig, and run single.

Ive heard before if you run 2 and use 1 it will affect the power output.

Case and point again. Whoever told you that doesn't know what they're talking about.

"They" still don't know what they're talking about.

First things first, an antenna that isn't connected to anything is nothing more than than a small stick in the air doing nothing. It has no effect on anything at all ever.

Second of all, two antennas connected to the radio will only be "better" when installed correctly, spaced correctly, and using the correct cable. None of which will work out on a Ford Ranger. Therefore, two will not be better just because there are two. See my above detailed explaintions for why, since I've already explained this for you.
