Need new amp!
Hey everyone. So I was doing some research on a new amp. My old amp is working just fine. Here's the thing. I'm running two 12 inch Pioneer sub woofers in a sealed enclosure using a 500W Alpine MONOBLOCK amp! Yeah. I just found out that I need a two channel amp in order to get the best sound from the subs. Thank goodness I didn't blow my subs because right now there wires are joined together and connected onto the amp.
So I found a website online that has some specs of my sub I have now. Here's my question, What would be the best amp you guys would recommend for the Pioneers? I would really appreciate it. Thank you for your time.

Re: Need new amp!
You can run 2 subs off a mono amp as long as they are wired right and as long as the amp is strong enough to deliver enough power
the amp you are looking at will have to strain to play both subs
I personally don't really know what amp would be best but from the specs you would be better with a bigger amp give your subs a little more power
Just my opinion

Yeah, it says 800 watt max x2, that's 1600 watt power. So get a 2000 watt amp? I might just stick with one, get a small sealed box, because I don't think I have the time to make a box, and get an amp to power just one sub?

Well, like I said before, I wanted some room back there to fit one of my brother or sisters because they love driving with me in the truck. Or some luggage for vacation and such. Or just keep my setup as it is now and get a bigger amp.

Re: Need new amp!
well first you need to know what type of sube you have. In general, you can only pull from the amp what your omhs are. For instance. A 2ohm load (speakers) on a 1000w amp will only pull 500w. 4ohm load, 250w. So the idea here is to figure out what your subs are ohm wise. DVC 4ohm subs can be wired 1ohm or 4ohm. If your subs are 500w rms. 2 subs would be 1000w rms at a 1ohm load, you would need a 1000w mono amp. Of course this is on paper and actual ohms will vary.
----------
if your only going to run 1 sub, get a DVC 2ohm, this way you can still get 1 ohm load.
If you run 1 single DVC 4ohm you can get 2 ohm load or 8 ohm. If it were a 500w rms sub you would need a 1000w amp. 2 ohm load on 1000 = 500w supply

Re: Need new amp!
sorry I missed your specs!
Ok, so you have got 300 watts rms. However, they are SVC 4ohm. With 2 subs you will have a 2 ohm load. You need a 600w amp. 600/2 ohm = 300w supply to subs.
----------
so right now with your current amp, your puting 250w to both subs, 125 a piece, well within the specs. You should be fine with that amp. If its not delivering the sound you desire, you need DVC subs. They make a HUGE difference!
----------
you dont need a 2 channel. How do you have your subs wired? You should have all postives to postive, and all negative to negative. If you have postive of sub one to positive on amp and the negative to the 2nd sub positive and then 2nd sub negative-negative, that would be 8 ohm, wich means your only getting 62.5w to both subs

Show me those DVC amps you speak of? And right now, I have both positive coming out of both subs wired together and placed on the positive spot on the amp. Same thing with the negative side.

Nope. Mines, pos/pos (twist) stuck on amp. Neg/Neg (twist) stuck on amp. No bridging.

Re: Need new amp!
You asked for DVC subs, I showed you a pic. It has nothing to do with twisting wires. Regardless, you have a 2 ohm load, you will pull 1/2 of what any amp has to offer. You have a 500w amp, providing it puts out 500w at 10hm, you will pull 250w at 2ohm, 125 to each sub. Well with in spec of the rms rating of your subs, 50-150

Re: Need new amp!
it looks like these are your speakers.. they are SVC 4 ohm 150 watt RMS speakers.. the way you have them wired together your amp will see a 2 ohm load and the speakers should be able to handle an amp that will put out 600 watts rms at 2 ohms.. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00362CLLU this amp should work good for you
edit: why does it keep popping up that icon instead of putting the link in line like the other one?
