Talking Installed Kenwood 6x8 p680c speakers

I was looking to replace my speakers and I really like a clean tight sound and because of that I'm not a fan of oval speakers but at the same time I didn't want to go with a component set of speakers and cut in the tweeters especially in the back doors. Luckily a friend of mine told me about the Kenwood p680c that they make specifically for Ford/Mazda with a 6" woofer, tweeter and high quality crossover built onto a 6x8 plate making an easy direct bolt in (except wiring).
http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entert...kers/KFC-P680C

I read some good online reviews and order two pairs for my truck... install was very straight forward but I wish I would have bought the wire adapters instead of cutting and soldering but it's done.

The speakers have a very nice build quality with an angle adjustable tweeter and it's almost too bad they aren't visible once installed. I'm very happy with the sound I'm getting from them and as hoped it's a very clean tight sound. I tried some big base music and they do pretty good but not going to replace having a sub if you like big base.

What kind of head unit do you have? pretty cool that the crossover is built onto it so that you dont have to mount it somewhere else.

I would want to get 2 pair of these in the truck and use an amp to power them...probably be a lot cleaner sound. but if you just have the pair it is probably fine the way it is.

congrats on the upgrade.

Yeah I was happy not to have to mount the cross over and I should have taken a pic of the crossover before the install quality unit. I've got 4 of them and I'm powering the speakers with my factory head unit (6 disc changer cd/mp3 in Dash with Sat radio) and no doubt sound could improve at if I amped them but I'm happy... for now

Yeah very pricey but I purchased off ebay from billselectronicgear2000 paid $92.75 a pair free shipping which was way less than other places I had looked.

This was buried in the first post... I didn't make the most important part very obvious

Yeah that fiber cone in the stocks doesn't keep it's sound quality for long.. when I'm looking speaker I'm always going polypropylene woofers with butyl rubber surrounds and a die cast or pressed not welded chassis. That spec use to be rare but more common now but my home Paradigm speakers are of that spec I've had for 20 years still sound amazing.

Update after almost 2 months with the speakers and they continue to impress. Amazing sound quality for all types of music.
