Not if you like music...
Just like what was said above...I like my music to sound good. I can't stand when I see people wanting to put in 15" subs, 4 of them in the back of their tiny itty bitty ranger cab. WTF. Ranger cabs are perfect for a single 10 or single 12, and it sounds great. I usually have mine detuned to my taste in sound quality. It's pretty simple....2way and 3way speakers just don't provide the low notes all too well for a good well rounded sound. That's where the sub comes into play.

It's funny you say that 'cause I wanted a sub and as soon as I got it I was kinda like "ok, this is lame" but it's grown on me and now I love it... everything else is stock as far as the system goes but that sub really made it 10x better...

I personally dont see how people can have a 2 12" subs in a ranger
My 2 10's are almost to much with the volume turned to 10 in my truck

Panasonic h/u w/ all the bells and whistles of 4 years ago, Infinity Reference 6x8's up front, stock rears, Kicker CompVR12-2, Kicker 400.1 mono amp, in a hatchback box. Got the iPod control on the headunit and the ipod in the glovebox. Gets the job done, I can turn the bass up when i want to...got that nifty little remote bass boost knob under my airbag switch.
I hope someday to construct my own custom box that'll allow for full rear storage and full seat recline and will also have it's own amp rack where the jack cover used to be. Possibly downsize to a 10 for a cleaner, crisper, tighter sound.

I've managed to stuff 2 13.5 JL Audio W3's int he back, powered by a JL Audio Class D monoblock 1000w amp, Audiobahn 6x9s up front with built on tweets, and 6x8 pioneers in the back, powered by an Alpine 350W mid-high range amp, Tsunami 2 Farad Cap., all headed up by a Pioneer Premier Head unit. 0 gauge power and grounds.
And by the way, If you know how to build your system properly, theres no reason why you cant have 2 12 or a 15 in these trucks. It's not too loud or obnoxious, unless you want it to be. I build for competition, and the system has paid for itself so don't knock the guys with the bigger systems. There is some logic behind the madness.

CSS how can you hate subs now? I can understand disliking too much bass overpowering your mids and highs, which would be easy with 2 L7's, but if you had some proper speakers for mids and highs you should have loved it. unless you were that annoying kid going around blasting and someone jacked your shit.then id understand why.

well there ya go! DURH!! Did you build that setup? IF so, you built it for BASS, deeeeep LOWS.
Even a Single 12" L7 was overkill for me. I had that in the truck for a while and in the car(subaru wagon) when I wanted to feel like a rapper. Sounded like ass and I could never get it to perform the way I wanted to....aka just enough to make a difference, but not too much to drive me insane.
I still stand by what I said earlier: These trucks need NO MORE than a single 12. and a single 10 is very adequite.
