Default headunit overheating or bad amp?

i purchased my truck about 4 months ago. it already had an entry level kenwod head unit in it. i replaced the factory speakers almost immediately. since i have put the new speakers in i have a tendency to listen to loud rap music ha but when i listen at high volume for a while it will slowy get quieter until its starts crackling and the head unit goes into protect. called kenwood and they said it is a bad speaker and the place i got the speakers says it is the amp in the head unit or the head unit is over heating. wondering if anyone can help.. thanks

speakers can overheat... you might of overworked the speakers.... so you might be pushin the amp (or headunits amp) to the point of clipping and start burning up the speaker and it shorts out but the headunit protects them with its mode

4 channel amp... cus lets say your speakers handel 40watts rms and a aftermarket headunit can only put out 20 watts max befor distortion and clipping so a amp that can bring it 40 watts so it can hget louder before distortion.
