Default Sound System 2006 Ranger

So I bought an Alpine IXA-W404 double din head unit and have just been looking over it so far.
I had a couple of questions about the wiring and set up of the deck.
first, how does everyone by-pass the emergency-brake wire?
Second since it is a double din, do you have to cut out some of the plastic on the top and bottom, it seems like you'd have to but I just wanted to check.

Also does anyone have any good sub box designs that include dimensions for a 06 XLT 4-door.

I bought one of these.

If you feel like you need to build one, they give you the dimensions!
The sub faces down. I have mine behind the drivers seat against the side so the installer added a short "leg" to one side so it sits level.

Sorry, I see you have a 4 door? The box is designed to sit in the center or directly behind a seat. Maybe that helps you....

On the radio bezel you need to trim the top lip and bottom lip off the bezel.

I am assuming you already bought a install kit? If not you need one like this.
Ford Ranger Double Din Radio Install Dash Kit

Just cut that middle bar out and your good to go.

unless things have changed, the brake wire is easy to bypass for real cheap if you don't want to buy the above product.

connect the e-wire to a two way toggle switch. connect the other side of the toggle switch to a ground. when you want video, flip the switch. it tricks the unit.

search on the web for better instructions, but thats the main idea.

U dont even have to put it on a toggle switch, it just needs to be on any ground. Just find some metal and a bolt under the dash and hook it up and it will just constantly stay tripped.

the reason i suggest the toggle was for the police...it is against the law to have video in view of the driver. so if you were pulled over for having video up front, you can toggle it off and no more video. either way, easy to do. good luck!

I got that same box, awesome box, I got mine with the 10 in kicker already in it. I also have mine behind the drivers seat, I took out one of my jumpseats and secured it with a little leg as well.

Tried that with mine and it wont work. Toggle switch has to be used.

If it is like my ALpine Ixa-407 then the yellow wire can go to the post coming off the dist box in the engine compartment.
The other wire gets connected to the black wire on the e-brake switch.

You will need to remove the bolt that holds the switch on to use a t-tap and connect the wire.
