my 6 disc changer on my 03 Ranger Edge has gone kaput. Asked Ford dealership if they could just install the tremor package. I don't know anything about audio stuff. Is the Tremor package quality or would I want to just look at a car audio shop?

IIRC the tremor stuff is pioneer but my bet is that you could build yourself a hell of an aftermarket system for what the dealership would charge for the tremor system

Just go buy an aftermarket head unit. You can take it to an audio shop and they shouldnt charge that much to put it in. But make sure you buy a good brand, most likely if it is a cheap price it is a cheap head unit.

Dealershp=$$$$ I would say go with an aftermarket headunit and doors speakers. Depends on what you want to.

for the most part, Ford stock stereo systems are pretty good. that stock 6cd had 4 internal amps, putting out 20 watts rms x4, and the guts are pioneer. waay better than most aftermarket units in terms of wattage, etc- most midrange ones now are about 16-18 watts. The design of the stock cd changer, though, is pretty archaic, and prone to mechanical failure.
But yes, the dealer would probably want around $300 for a tremor head unit. which is insane. my 6cd with pioneer 2 way speakers all around kicks pretty hard for my tastes, but it won't be setting off any car alarms

The tremor stuff is all Pioneer stuff. pioneer head unit and I think an Pioneer sub in c inverted carpeted box laying across the bottom of the supercab part

Buy a wrecked Tremor and rob all the audio stuff. I've kicked around the thought of doing a Tremor swap on my truck. But i'd never have the dealer do it.

Like was said before, the factory 6 disc is pretty badass for a factory setup, mine hits real hard for what it is, and still has a bit more to go from where I have it.

Test drove a Tremor once. It is a good system, but the money you fork over to ford you could have a better setup.
