Default decisions.... subwoofer time finally!

jus bought an amp, alpine mrp-m500, and deciding on which sub to go with....

why amp first, welllll, because i got it 40 percent off and only need a small system of 500 watts for bass.

what u guys think i should do, keep in mind only 500 watts limited, and 90 percent of you will say TYPE R!!! haha but i dont think i would get one

If you want noise, get a paper coned type R.
I installed an Infinity 1060W in a sealed box. SQ is fantastic and it hits well. Under priced and very well reviewed.

I am going to be one of the 90% and say type r, just because I have that amp/sub set up, but get a ported box, mine is in a sealed and I will be getting a ported very soon. I have also run 2 MTX Jackhammers with that amp, sounded very good and very loud, back window was kicking out about 1/4". The only problem i had with the MTX is that the box was too big for the back seat of the ranger, and i don't like having my seat forward. By the end of the summer I will be running 2 type R 10" subs in separate ported boxes from that amp, should sound good.

kicker comp cvrs ftw!

aluminum cones, rubber surround instead of foam, surround is glued and stitched to the cone. Very well built and they sound great. And they look cool

Shit brands...

1. Kicker
2. Pioneer
3. Kenwood
4. Alpine(Type R's are an exception sometimes)
5. Anything else mainstream

Good brands

1. Sundown
2. Audioque
3. DC
4. DD
5. RE
6. Fi
Etc...

If you're looking to save space but want a sub that can handle some power... Sundown Sa-8 all the way. I hype these things up because I love em haha they're not absolutely amazing but on about 1000w in the right box they get nasty all things considering. I just bought 1 of them from this guy:
http://www.caraudio.com/forums/subwo...-shipping.html

Cost me $100 shipped. Look em up on Youtube if you're not familiar with them.

DD will run you more cash and honestly isn't worth it IMO. I've heard a DD 12" on about 1500w and it was on about the same level as my AQ. Not too impressive for a sub that cost way more than mine did.

i'll bang on your trash can lids haha.

why is paper used on so many high qualitty speakers? oh yea, because it helps reproduce sound more naturally than metal alloys...

metal cone subs are ok but i def have to hear one (besides cvrs) before i jump to buy some.
