Default sound dampening question

hey guys i work for a construction type place and we have access to hvac stuff so i was wondering if mastic tape or puttyback tape would work well as a sound dampener, i figured if i double the layer up and coat the doors, floor and ceiling it should help, or is it a lot of wasted time? it could save lots of money if it works. the tape is a thick layer of putty, with an aluminum backing.

well i know people have used peel and seal with great success so i would assume anthing of the like would have similar effects... so do it up, unless it has a funky smell lol

It really has no smell, in the summer when its a billion degrees out I never smell anything from it. Ill have to try it, maybe this can be my weekend project.

I used peel and seal and have had no issues at all.

well thats if you use that roofing stuff, mastic tape is not the same, its not made with tar which would give that asphalt smell. im hoping to have time and good weather to do it this weekend, ill let you know.
