okay well i managed to mess this project up while i was working on it today... i had a string tied to the old wire and when i pulled it through it came off. i tried to put the new wire in down through the antenna hole for about an hour before i gave up. anyone have any suggestions now? i looked up behind the glove box and cannot see the hole that the antenna needs to go through...

'93 Antenna Replacement?

The Original antenna should just be able to UNSCREW off the mount.
Unless your wire is bad,you shouldn't need to replace the wire.
I unscrewed mine and bought a special short Antenna for two reasons:
-Better reception
-Able to clear low ceilings
-I really don't like even seeing my antenna

shorter or regular doesn't really matter to me, my wire was cut behind the glove box so the whole thing needs to be replaced

Gothcha!...Try this...

Answer

first pull out the radio and undo the antenna plug from the back of it. Tie a 6 foot peice of bailer twine or similar string to the end above the plug, and tape it on. Next undo the screws in the plate holding the antenna to the fender of the truck( if that is the type you have). Pull the antenna wire out untill you get about 6 inches of the string. Tie the string to the plug on the new antenna and tape it on. Go back into the cab and pull the string until you can get the plug. Pull the plug until you can plug it into the radio. Reinstall the radio. Go back to the fender and feed the rest of the antenna wire into the hole and put the screws back through the plate to hold the new antenna in place. If it doesn't have screws and plate, then the antenna is held on by a nut under the fender, and you need to undo the wheel well liner to get at it. good luck.

For some reason the CB ones don't bother me... it's that skinny one always hitting parking garage ceilings and flopping when I drive... I hated it

mine always hits in a parking garage that i drive in everyday.. been thinkin about gettin a small one for awhile, but keep forgettin to get around to it. my CB antenna mount, on the other hand, is magnetic so i just leave it stuck to the bed wall up against the cab and pull my antenna out of the back seat and put it on the mount when needed (IF needed) and throw the mount on the roof by the 3rd brake light.. K40's have quick assembly

I don't have any complaints or annoyances with my normal antenna. My race radio/ cb (switches between the 2 depending on which one I am using for the time being) has a magnetic mount and I put it up by my 3rd brake light. I also just throw it in the extended cab part of my truck thru the back slider when it isn't being used
