Lightbulb New Cd Player suggestions

Hey Guys, I am really enjoying my Ranger, But the Sound system is subpar to what I am used to. I have the speakers of my 92 Accord which consists of Infinity 61/2 (I forget the model though, I know they are rated at 30 Watts RMS) for the front and Alpine Type R for the rear (if they fit in those suicide doors)

The problem is I need a new deck. I know Some Rangers came with a pioneer at some point (sweet!) but I am open to suggestions (at a decent price) and I don't want those that the whole faceplate folds down because that's what I used to have and it gave me nothing but trouble. I would like a deck that gives decent bass and treble and with the option of "Loudness" and equalizer.

I would like a small sub but considering that I don't want to lose Cab space perhaps a suggestion for a sub placement would be great too (I like MTX Subs). I wish I had the sport bucket seats so i could fit a sub in the center console but I don't. I am on a budget of perhaps $500 for the deck and sub (I have an amp already). I hope there is good deck you could suggest me (I put funtionality before looks) that would be great.

I bought a Pioneer DEH-3200UB from Crutchfield for $119 everything included for my 2010, and I'm pretty happy with it. I'm just using my door speakers with no sub, but I think I recall from the instructions with it, that it can work with one. The installation was fairly easy. Would have been a cakewalk if the last barb on the dash adapter had not refused to snap in place, forcing me to remove the radio bezel to get things sorted. Kudos to STL for posting instructions on doing that.

Thanks for the suggestion bud . I will keep that in mind. How did it improve your overall sound quality?

I imagine you have the plug in for MP3/Ipod under your Thermostat controls on your 2010, I guess by changing the deck, that port can no longer be used?

Just get a new headunit and UMK. Gonna run about 80 bucks. It improves sound alot. But if you really wanna improve overall quality. Replace your factory Speakers with some aftermarket speakers.

The Pioneer definitely as a more sensitive tuner than the Ford unit, which in my case is pretty important because I listen mostly to classical music and the only local classical music station puts out a really weak signal. I get a lot less static with the new unit. As far as a comparison of the overall sound quality, it's little hard to quantify, but I think the radio on the new deck seems to give a richer sound compared to the original Ford unit. And when I'm playing a CD, the sound quality is fantastic.

That would certainly be the case for the Pioneer that I bought as well as any of the similarly priced stereos that I looked at with a USB input, because the USB port and the AUX port are both right on the front panel of the unit.

In my case though, I'm not actually losing anything because I only had the minimum AM/FM radio and no AUX input. If my Ranger would have had a CD player with an AUX input jack, I probably would have kept the original.

To the OP, my 08 Ranger had a Pioneer stock head unit. Same as all other stock units, just made by Pioneer.
And you said decent price. What kind of price range are we talking about?

I was thinking that the deck should be in the 200 to 250 range, I think for that price it can give a deck that will fill my need and still sound great with the speakers I want to install.

You'll hear a lot of people saying things about Alpine on here. There are a lot of people that have it and like it. I personally like Pioneer and Infinity. Infinity speakers sounds the best IMO. Head units vary though. But usually all are about the same.

Pioneer DEH-P6200BT:

Alpine iDA-X305S:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Alpine+-...&skuId=9764435

I would recommend both of these. The Apline is a little more expensive but it'll suit your needs perfectly. It's all about personal preference and the user interface so you can adjust the settings to your liking. Both of these are nicely set up and very user friendly. You might be able to find them cheaper at other places as well. I just use bestbuy.com as a reference, even though it is not necissarly the best place for car audio, they still do a good job.

I like the Pioneer DEH series, like the others said call Cruthcfield.com, they can help with the setup on what fits and if you get the whole package they discount alot too.
