Default Rampage Sub

I was given this 200 watt 8" powered sub tube made by Audiovox. Model number Rampage BA-100. It has 4 connections on the back, Ground, Speaker +, Speaker -, and 12v. According to the manual it should be connected to an unswitched (always on) power source with a 5 amp fuse. For me this seems odd since there is no remote wire or power switch. Unless it gets its on/off signal from the speakers. I wanna know if this is right so I don't fry something.

it shouldnt need any power except when being used i would assume, the power drawn from the batter is probably virtually non exsistant when its not pushing sound that is given from the deck.
99 extended cab, 4.0, auto, 33s, 4x4 lifted with some stuff done

98 2wd 2.5, 5 speed, dropped with some stuff done
