Default iPod hook up to stock stereo

I have an 05 FX4 with the stock radio - with the 6 cd changer and factory sub. I was just wondering if there is something out there I can buy so I can plug my iphone into the sound system? Or do I need to buy a new head unit? I have one of the FM transmitters but it doesn't work great with this truck for some reason.

There is an adapter available out there but your radio has to have an aux function. Google "Ford IPOD adapter" and see what comes up.

This should work.(I need to look into into it a little more) but don't 100% quote me on that lol.

I've done similar types of things in 5-10 cars and have all worked great. Theres something out there that will work for ya. You just have to find it.

I have the Scosche #IPFMRDS adapter--hooks in-line with your antenna. Sounds great!
I have mine mounted in the glove box with the plug mounted in a cut-out in my console for a stealthy install. IIRC it was about $150 from Crutchfield.

I have this one, Its great. I can have ipod playlists, ipod direct control, AND pandora streaming from my phone. that plus the 6cd keeps me pretty well entertained hahah. I'd definetly recommend it for keeping the stock radio but using your ipod. I also have it totally hidden, so you would never know its there.

you could try this
http://www.digitalfotoclub.com/produ...p?id=964825280

just hook it in your 12V or cigarette lighter cargo hole. use usb cord. might work. Or, might just charge your ipod.

But, I got a inexpensive head unit from JVC for my 87 dakota. ( dont drive that much)-i had to get a new unit, it had an old realistic. but the JVC was only $80.00. around that price range.

----------

i have a xplod headunit in the ranger. aux. with a Monster cable that plays my ipod to through the system. and i can controll my songs straight from it, without lookin of the road, haha.

Don't make it more work than it should be! I bought one of the $9.99 units from my local parts store which plugs into the 12 volt receptical. It holds the IPOD and charges it and plays it over the radio. I have had no issues. Simple.

Agreed, I got mine for $5 at Family Dollar, $15-30 at any other store is bullshit.

You could search ebay for an '07+ stock radio... some of those came with the aux feature and I've found good deals on stock radios that people pulled to install an aftermarket one.

Will newer 2007 + stock radios with the AUX fit in older (1998) Rangers?

They should as far as I know. The AUX jack goes under the heat control where your airbag control is so you'll just have to figure out a place to put that... probably in the glovebox?
