Default help with sub box

So I want to make a new box for my 12" kicker L5. The question I have is should I make it a ported box or a sealed box? I have a '97 ext cab by the way

ported typically has better response in low ends and has a bigger box. sealed is typically a flat response and smaller size. so it basically comes down to do you have the room to do a ported design

I have plenty of room. Im just wondering if either design sounds better in how small our trucks are. It seems I have to roll down my windows to get it to sound good. Its in a sealed box now and I wasn't sure if going to a ported box would help

if room aint a issue then ported is typically better but some people will say sealed like i said earlier that ported typically has better response in the low ends and a broader band of bass

The box has to be considerably bigger for a ported box. I made my own box! Sealed sounds great and its just a 10 inch. Its such a small area, you really dont need a lot to get a big boom.

Do a ported box. And ported boxes don't HAVE to be big to sound good. Do a ported box with the sub and port facing up.
