Default Radio wont work!

This morning I got into the truck to go to school and turned on the radio and it all lighted up but no sound would come out from the speakers! Im not sure whats wrong with it but I may have an idea...last night I installed a flashlight holder on the floor of the truck to the left of the drivers seat in-between the seat and the door. To install it i just screwed in 4 screws through the carpet and the floor. The only reason I can think of for it not working is because i might have cut all of the speakers wires while putting in the screws...does anyone know if the stock speaker wiring even runs there or have any ideas as to why they wont work? I have no experience with wiring so I don't know what to do yet. Any help would be great because I hate sitting in the truck in complete silence!

even if you got 1 or 2 of the speaker wires the door speakers should still work. sounds to me like the radio crapped out, but i could be wrong. i know my mom's '99 isuzu trooper recently did the same thing, its stuck on and will only play the one cassette thats stuck in it, no eject, no fast forward or reverse. only the volume works.

I went out earlier and played around with it and unscrewed all of the screws while the radio was on and when i took out the third screw the radio came on perfectly. I have no idea why it didn't work with the screw in but I'm happy i fixed it.

Sounds like you have a ground problem of some type. Did this only happen right after you installed the light holder?

OEM radio? the face plate mounts to the radio metal housing by tiny flimsy brackets that are known to break (poor design).. the face plate has a plug that is inserted into housing in assembly. if the face plate mounts are broke the mating of the plug becomes loose, it will cause malfunction of lights and controls n more....... if it happens again inspect the face mounts and wiring..

Yes it did only happen after I added the flashlight mount, and I don't think its the faceplate problem you mentioned because as soon as I removed the one screw the radio came on without a problem and stayed on. Thanks for the replies!

Is the FL mount still secure with only 3 screws? IF so,I'd say you're GTG!

the speaker wires actually DO run through there, and yes.. you more than likely did drive a screw through them causing the system to ground out. ALWAYS LOOK BEFORE YOU DRILL.

remove screws and splice in new sections of the wires ONE AT A TIME to avoid confusion. then mount your flashlight at a better location while praying you didnt fry the internal amplifier in your radio.
