Default Installed New Pioneer Speakers

This is pretty much a "go me!" post.

Bought and installed 4- 6x8 Pioneer 3-way speakers in my Ranger last night. After struggling with the first one trying to get the door panel off, everything else went very smooth.

I'm excited b/c I'm not very technically inclined, but with the help of the how-to's here, and a few posts on here that explained the (+) and (-) wiring colors, it went great and my new aftermarket speakers sound wonderful!!!

Just bragging about my lowly achievement. I kept the OEM Radio/CD player and it surprisingly gives plenty of power to the new speakers and sounds great!!!

Yay!!

A quick question though....I don't know if its b/c of the seats muffling the sound or whatever, but the back speakers in my single cab Ranger don't seem to put out as much sound as the front 2. Even with the OEM speakers installed previously. I guess its just the way it is....can anyone confirm that for me?

Yeah, I think it's because the speakers are shooting the sound straight into the back of the seat. There's not as much space as there is for the door speakers.

Thanks for confirming that for me.

I thought the OEM speakers sounded great for a Ford...until I put these Pioneer's in. And wow!!

I was going to get Sony Xplod speakers...but they were just a little too pricey.

Unfortunately I didnt take any pics or video of the installation process. The speakers are already installed so i can't take pics of the speakers now, but I found one on the net of the same speakers I installed so i put the pic below.

I don't have power door/locks, so the installation was easy after I removed the door panel which consisted of removing the screw by the arm rest, the one on the bottom of the panel, and by removing the T-15 screw that is behind the window handle cap.

The speakers were an exact fit, and I even used the same screws that came with the OEM speakers.

Thanks!

I mostly listen to rock/hard rock and some country, so the high-end treble sounds great on them!!! Speakers and the door do not rattle one bit.

I just bought the exact same Pioneer speakers and I can't wait to get them installed.
They have a solid white wire and a white wire that has a black tracer. Which factory wire goes to the solid white wire?

Thanks Mykhael,

Now I don't need test the wires before I put the red connector on.
I sure hope these things sound better than the factory speakers.

That wiring seems stupidly nonsensical! Either pioneer is retarded with their wiring colors or you sir are a master troll. Why not make white positive for a certan speaker and white with black tracer negative for the same speaker(and so on for the other speakers)?

You have a point. Any wire with a black tracer is usually the - , especially if the other complimentary wire is the same color, only solid. BUT, in my 2004 edge, the rear wires were: One all black, and one an orange/red-ish with a black tracer. All black was - , and the other +. Seemed logical.

FYI, I just replaced the rears in the extra cab with some older 125w rms 5x7 Alpines that I had removed from a '92 ranger. Only used them for about 6 months in that truck, then removed them before seliing . I don't have them hooked to a larger power source, but the OEM head unit sounds fine. Want to replace that soon too. They went in fairly easily. Although the screws to mount them on the panel, that fits back on the sidewall, went right through the outer casing really easily . Didn't make that same mistake on the other side . I want to replace the fronts, but didn't know how hard it was to remove the door panels. Doesn't sound too difficult.
