Box plans
I had a guy from a car audio forum I'm on design me a box. Here's what he came up with:
The box is 2.3ft^3 and is tuned to 32hz.

Re: Box plans
it's tuned to C (as in the note)....nice but thats not that low of frequency tho.. My bass amp (I'm a musician) will pass frequencies as low as 10hz and up to 200hz.. but without being super technical.. 30hz to 45hz is a good range

Re: Box plans
Its all about preference, ive had a guy at a audio store tell me that a band pass box is the worst thing you could have, then i showed him up at their car competetion with my amp tuned to the sub and box setup, he bought it right after it, im working on designing another box but will probably be ported this time

Re: Box plans
The best combo I've ever had was the one I bought from Drew(Edgeman4.0) and it was a JLAudio w7 in a box tuned to 32hz. That was honestly the best built box I've ever seen. Sadly, no pics of it.

Re: Box plans
Looks good. RAM did most of my first designs and he is one of the people I talk to now about my current designs (learned to do them myself but still like 2nd or 3rd or 4th opinions lol)

It's just as easy to build a ported box as it is to build a sealed box. Just takes a little more time.

Cause nobody is running boxes tuned to 10hz. Haha and 32hz is fairly low for this sub.

Re: Box plans
Looks like a good design structurally, nice to see the added support braces and the chamfered edges on the port... so many people think they can get by with glue & nails... until they blow the box apart.
Braces, glue, caulk & lots of screws in the proper material is the way to go.
As a woodworker I appreciate good construction techniques.
As a car audio guy I prefer sealed boxes myself... although I have a ported and a 5th or 7th order box (I forget which is which) setting in my basement right now.

Hope you mean 4th or 6th order lol. I'm a decent designer and I've never even thought about a 5th or 7th order. I actually don't always using bracing on my smaller boxes depending on the weight of the sub(s) a double baffle is more than enough but with the sub on top and the size of the sub chamber that bracing is pretty smart. Like I said RAM is a great designer.
4th order is a sealed chamber inside of a ported chamber and 6th is a ported chamber inside a ported chamber put VERY simply.
