Blowing AMP Fuse
I tryed the search but came up with nothing.. For the last couple years I keep blowing fuses in my amp or the one on the fuse panel... For the amp whats the reason? Is my amp not able to put out that much power so it blows? Its a FAIRLY old amp... Answers? Suggestions? Mabey and upgrade?

Re: Blowing AMP Fuse
it should have no problem powering that. what is your amp set to? and it may be over heating and blowing fuses

Is it a 1/2/3/4/5 channel amp?
How are the speakers wired to the amp?
If runs hot, you're driving the amp too hard & it will blow fuses/overheat constantly.
Try to only run the appropriate # of speakers that the amp will handle, ie: a 2 channel amp should have 2 speakers, a 4 channel amp should have 4 speakers, etc.
Lots of 2 channel amps can run 4 speakers, BUT the amp must be able to handle the load (and not overheat/blow fuses).
Unless it's a 5 channel amp you're probably overloading what the amp can handle.

Re: Blowing AMP Fuse
Try putting in bigger fuses in the amp.

Re: Blowing AMP Fuse
Putting in a higher capacity fuse is not the solution if the existing wiring can't handle the added current draw.

Re: Blowing AMP Fuse
How are the 4 speakers connected?
2 speakers to ch 1&2 + 2 to ch 3&4?
4 speakers to ch 1&2?
How's the sub connected? By itself or with 2 other speakers?
If your amp is 2ohm stable, the way I'd connect them is:
4 speakers to ch 1&2 with ch 3&4 bridged for the sub... that is IF your amp is 2 ohm stable AND bridgeable.
The midrange speakers shouldn't be too much for 2 channels of the amp to handle, I ran a 4 ch amp with 5 speakers for years...but they were wired properly.
The sub is what will work the amp, especially if it's connected with other speakers and not properly crossed over.
X2 on not using a bigger fuse, that will just let the amp create more & more heat until it finally burns up.
