One 12" sub would be fine especially in a truck box but most people like the balance of having 2 subs. 2 tens is a good option too.

Personal choice really, but they would sound alot alike. The 12 would probally be able to go deeper but if you want a more balanced system two tens would be good.

Either way is a good option but you could do the 12 in a truck box with like a 500 watt amp and it would be good hats what I had in my jeep for a long time and it should b less exspensive

I currently have 2 8's and a 12, but I don't know what size amp I own. Should I run just the 12 in my Ranger, or all 3. BTW: it's a 98 with a reg cab and with the long legs I have, I don't have much room behind the seats. What would be the best set-up?

12" subs would give you deeper tone for rap and 8"s or 10"s will hit harder and be able to move faster for metal/ rock music. i run 2 8"s in my extended cab and they do pretty good. for a well priced quality sub go with the the kicker cvr

Prob I have is that I like my rap as much as I like my rock. Is there a couple of good 10's that'll give the best of both worlds?

12's handle rock just fine. My 15" handled metal with no problem.
