yeah it wasnt a blown fuse edgeman, im not retarded, maybe not as good at electrical as some of you but im no fool, and i clipped the wires one at a time, while the battery was disconnected.

so you can hop off your high horse now, cause the problem turned out to be a factory wire way back in the dash that rubbed through and grounded out. i taped over it and boom had power.

Just to be extra safe, I'd cut out the frayed section of wire (that was grounding out) and solder the wire back together & heat shrink over the connection or add a little extra wire.

If the wire shorted out, it may have damaged the wire ie: burned some of the individual strands of wires. You (or rather SHE) will probably be ok with taping over the shorted wire, but it's not anything to take lightly... if it's worth doing, it's worth OVER doing.

yeah i cut about 8 inches out to be safe and used a crimping wire connector, then electrical taped it. i think it will hold.

I would have solderd and heatshrunk it, but that will hold for a while. Sorry but I install and repair two way radios for a living and have had crimp connectors fail.

The trick is to make the wire (object) you are soldering melt the solder not the iron melting it...
