Re: sub question
I would highly recommend the kicker comp cvr's. If your looking for 2 subs then make sure you get a DVC 4ohm. This way they can be wired for 1ohm. Make sure you get a 1ohm stable amp.
Now, I can tell you from experience in the different setups that I built. 4 10's will drop and hit the subsonic levels the same as 2 12's. 2 10's will not hit as low but still sound very good.
As a general rule of thumb, 10's are more suited for a rock type music and 12's more to rap.
As far as the kicker comp cvr's, they are built the best IMHO. The cones are aluminum and they do not have foam for suspension. They have ribbed rubber and it is stitched and glued to the cone and the frame.
Here is a vid I took of my setup, here you can see what the subs look like:
I don't know if they still make these or not. But you should be able to find them on ebay.

Re: sub question
kickers are pretty good my personal choice is memphis and for amps rockford fosgate without a doubt. It all depends on your total budget and amount of bass you want.

I bought my kickers about 4 years ago, they were buy on get on free at circuit city, I spent about $180 for all 4.
Looks like about $65 bones for a 10" http://cgi.ebay.com/KICKER-CVR10-R-C...item483d354a3d
Thats not bad at all.
----------
On the kickers you will see something like this: 07CVR104
This means 2007 year CVR 10" 4ohm
And I don't think this sub comes with anything but Dual Voice Coil
Mine were '05 so they read 05CVR102 - 2 is for 2ohm
----------
For me the biggest issue is in how the woofer is constructed. Thats why I chose the kicker.
1) Aluminum cone (Very durable)
2) Rubber suspension not foam. (Foam tears easily)
3) Stitched/Glued vs. Just glued on most competitors subs.
4) Overall style of the sub is very cool.

Re: sub question
well the main thing to be concerned about is your amp. its better to have better amp and fair speakers then fair amp and really good speakers. your amp is whats the pricy subject. do u want your backseats because special subs for smaller enclosires cost more to make sound good

x2 on the amp situation! and about the seats, you'll have to decide if you want them or not before you go out and get your stuff.
I decided I didn't need my back seats and just custom built my box to take up all that is back there.
But we have an expedition for whatever so back seats werent an issue for me.

x2 on the 10's they hit quicker, cleaner and crisper. For rock and metal, 10's are the way to go.

Re: sub question
as far as an amp, that will come next, but i want both to be good. and i want to keep seats, i have been looking at ways to make that happen, i dont run people in the back often but just in case. i like the idea of making a custom box that will get its square footage on the back wall somehow... like a false wall.

Re: sub question
I don't know about your seat belt laws over there, but perhaps you can build a box similar to mine, withouth the seats, and people can sit on top of the box. The kicker 10's are only like 10" deep and if you mount them like I have, you could even put in a shallow spot on each side and put a cushion and have two seats right on the box....?
That would be a neat idea

Re: sub question
yeah but my seats come out of the back wall since i have the 4 door. they are still jump seats and as far as sitting on the box, idk about that... the false wall does sound complicated and really hard but it would come out looking amazing if it all goes right hahahaha.
but i need to take the back wall apart and see how much space i could create back there.
