Factory stereo replacement?
New to the site. Still not sure how to move around within the forum. I have a new 2010 Ranger and looking to replace the factory sound system. I replaced the 4 factory speakers with kicker. Now looking to replace the factory stereo. Anyone got any idea what works well and if a sub woofer is neccessary?

Welcome to the site. If you want a stereo you first need to decide if you want a subwoofer or not. If you don't just go ahead and buy a 2 audio output headunit. If you want subs, get a 3 audio output. I recommend the 3. In my opinion Alpine is the way to go.

ya i agree my alpine runs like a champ and it has really good options for eq-ing and stuff

id get a double din touchscreen/nav unit like a pioneer avic or something

^^^ Definately agrree. I have an Pioneer AVIC-F700BT in my truck it is great. They can be rather pricey tho. My brother used to work at best buy so I got a $1000 head unit for around $150.

Subwoofer is dependent on the music you like, if you listen to Andrea Bochelli, Seal, and Elton John chances are a sub is just going to be a waste of money, but say you are listening to dubstep and really bass filled rap and hip hop well then you sir should get a sub.

have AVIC-D3...paid $600 three years ago for it. They're prolly cheaper now on a clearance shelf somewhere. check ebay and amazon. The AVICs support GPS, DVD, iPod, XM/Sirius, CD, Bluetooth, HD radio, AM/FM, rear camera video, maybe a few more things...
As long as the 98-01 is a double DIN I don't see why not. I had a 2002 factory stereo in my 2004 before i put the AVIC in. Still have the 2002 headunit.
