Default back to stock?

Can I put a stock head unit back into my Ranger?
My neighbor had the mazda version of the same year.
It has an aftermarket now, but looks bad.
Is it hard to hook back up?
Do they cut wires to hook a new one in?

Thanks!!

You can put them back in. Sometimes people cut the harness wires so it all depends. Take a look at what you're dealing with though

Also, theres a black wire with a mini sized plug on the end(about the size of a headphone jack) that's not plugged in?
It's short and its on the right hand side. Pretty thick wire, any idea what the heck that would be?

That's the plug for the antenna. If the aftermarket stereo was installed PROPERLY meaning the person who installed it used the adapter harness than your stock stereo will plug right back in no problems. However, if he was a complete MORON and cut the stock connector off you still can go back to stock but it is a HUGE pain rewiring the stock harness back in.

Yeah, I guess I'm screwed.
I think he cut the old harness or something.
I looked at the harness compared to the female end on the stock unit and it doesn't match at all.
But there is 2 different female plugs on the back of the stock stereo.
Have any idea why?

All but the bare bones am/fm radio have 2 plugs on the back. The second plug is usually for an external CD changer. A pic would help a lot.

Definitely, I'll take a pic of the head and the harnesses this evening, so you guys can give me better perspective.

The stock head is from the Mazda version of my truck, I'm sure it'll still fit right?
Maybe it has a different harness?
