I went to replace the stock speakers in my truck today. The door speakers went as expected nice and easy. Then I pulled off the speaker covers in the back of the cab. This is where I found quite a surprise. There were no speakers there, nor was there any wiring According to Crutchfield there should be the same size speakers in the back of the cab as in the doors. I really am confused, are there supposed to be speakers there? I would think so due to the obvious speaker covers, but I don't know now.

Either way, how difficult would it be to install new speakers back there? I guess just where to run the wires is my question. I would guess to run them under the side trim by the door (where it says ranger), and then...If anyone knows how to take care of this, I would love to know. The more detailed you could be the better.

just run the wires under the carpet along the sides where the floor trim goes

Yep, my 03 xl reg cab doesn't have rear speakers either, btw there are no mounts either because they are supposed to be mounded to the back on the speaker grilles.

Ok ya I figured as much as all that, but should I tap into the front speakers wires or how should I handle that part?

I noticed that the wires are there at the connector that plugs into the radio but like you said, not at the speaker "holes", I have heard that the wiring stops somewhere near/under the seats. Btw, you have the vinyl floor right?

Ford has been known to do weird crap. Such as: my XL has stock fog lamp connectors at the bumper, but no wiring for the switch (from what I can see) inside the cabin.

Haha thats outstanding...I wonder how many people thought they could just slap some fogs in there and couldn't figure out what happened.

Is there any easy way to pick up the vinyl a bit so I can see if they are indeed under the seats?

Anyone know for sure where the wires end? I'd like to know roughly where to look. If they are under the seat, how do I get to that?
