You probably are running to low of impedance for the amp which is why its overheating.

The ohms the subs are wired at might be to much for the amp making it get hot

so the resistance the subs are at could possibly be to much? I'm running 12 gauge wire from amp to subs. And also my mounting location may have and issue to do with it. It's on the tranny hump in the back of the cab. So little air flow and its on carpet

.
Okay I have the little 4 inch diameter ones are in my door, sub is In the back. Now the blue 6x9's I had originally bought boxes for them but I decided to do away with the boxes for it would look tacky. So I took out the OEM 5x8's and cut out a hole big enough for the blue 6x9s. The 6x9's and the door speakers are ran to the head unit. The sub is connected to the amp. So all I had left was the 2 grey 6x9's and the two boxes that went with them. I gave them to a friend.

This is what I'm wondering? Idk why people go for 6x9? Besides they will give a little more bass but that's what a sub is for.

Won't really give that much more than a 6X8 factory size. They're cheap, that's usually why I see people getting them
