If you plan on using that ported box, you need to find out from whoever made it or maybe whoever you got it from what the tuned frequency is. You will need a subsonic filter no more than 5 hz below that frequency so you do not ruin the subs with overexcursion. Also, need to know the impedance of the voice coils on the subs and if they are svc or dvc so you know the total impedance. Without knowing all this info, you dont know what amp to power them with. Some amps have a preset subsonic filter, some have a variable, some amps don't have it. In the latter case, you can add RCA filters at the RCA input.

Why a lot of people go sealed. Easier, but at the cost of output. You should be able to measure the box and figure out volume and tuning frequency. Especially with the subs out. You can read the ohm of the coils on the subs with a dmm if they aren't marked.

Yes, and you can also more accurately determine the tuned frequency by playing test tones. Starting at about 45 hz and go down in 5 hz increments. You will know when you get close because the cones will move less and less and barely vibrate when you hit it. You will know when you are too low because the cones will be out of control and sound horrible. Once you get as close as you think you can with 5 hz increments, you can zero in with 1 hz increments. Test tones can be recorded off the web from numerous sites. Ideally, you want -3db tones but 0db tones will do. You also need the tuned frequency for tuning the system so to get the most out of the source/amp/sub combo.

I've never heard of those before. Are they a pro audio type speaker meant to get really loud? Or is the neo just to save weight or reduce depth?

Re: Show Your System
A new beginning (hopefully sooner than later) to my system.
Iphone 6+ double din sized side slider kit.
Istreamer (usb to rca digital/analog converter + charges phone)
Mophie 4" flexible lightning to usb cable.
12v to 5v (@3amp) mini usb hardwired power source.
AudioControl Overdrive Plus.
Got everything but the mophie cable and mini usb from soundmanca.com
Now, just gotta graft that side slider into my dash & pick out my amplifier(s) (thinking RF)

Him too
eta - Really liking the Rockford P400X4 amp with the T1682 6x8's to match, they are within 10-20w of each other RMS wise with a little lower frequency resp. than my type r's
Substage - gonna get my hug on with i'm thinking Sundown X10 v2 d2 on the SCV-1500D amp.
Got a phat return this year gonna treat myself propa!

Are you going sealed or ported?
Have you designed the box yet?
What are the available dimensions for the box?
